A former chairman of First Bank and Labour Minister under the Ernest Shonekan-led Interim National Government, Prince Ajibola Afonja, is dead.
He was 82.
Afonja, a native of Oyo town, was popularly known by his company, IDS.
NewsmakersNG learned that the industrialist and community leader, who put Oyo town on the business map with his company, Integrated Dimensional System (IDS), died yesterday night at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
Reports say he was rushed to UCH where he breathed his last after he was involved in a lone accident in Ilora, a few kilometers drive from his country home in Eleekara.
The business leader and politician contested the 1999 senatorial election in Oyo Central under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
