Flood: NiMet Causes Panic with Monday Weather Prediction

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted prospects of thunderstorms over the Central States in the morning hours on Monday.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook released by its Central Forecast Office (CFO), on Sunday in Abuja also predicted thunderstorms over Abuja, Makurdi, Minna, Mambila, Jos, Lafia and Jalingo in afternoon and evening hours.

It added that the region would have day and night temperatures in the range of 27 degrees Celsius to 32 degrees Celsius and 17 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The agency predicted that Southern states would experience cloudy condition over inland cities with rains anticipated over the coastal cities and thunderstorms over Enugu in the morning hours.

It also predicted thunderstorms over the inland cities with rains over the coastal cities in the afternoon and evening hours and day and night temperatures of 28 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius to 23 degrees Celsius, respectively.

According to NiMet, Northern states will experience morning thunderstorms over Nguru, Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa and Yelwa with cloudy and moderate thunderstorms over Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Nguru, Maiduguri and Kano later in the day.

“The region will also have day and night temperatures in the range of 31 degrees Celsius to 34 degrees Celsius and 20 degrees Celsius to 24 degrees Celsius.

“Most parts of the country are favourable for thunderstorms and rain activities in the next 24 hours,” it predicted.
