Five persons narrowly escaped death in the early hours of today in an automobile accident, at Itamaga area of Ikorodu, on the outskirts of Lagos.
Newsmakers learned that the driver of a commuter bus, marked SMK-633 XM, lost control and collided with another commuter bus, marked LSD-763XF, coming from the opposite direction.
General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Mr. Adesina Tiamiyu, confirmed the accident was caused by over speeding.
He said the agency received a distress call around 6.43am and immediately mobilised its emergency rescue team to the scene.
He said five victims, four females and a male, with severe injuries, were rescued from the wreckage and taken to the trauma centre for treatment.
Police and other paramilitary agencies were also spotted at scene helping out in the rescue operation.
