The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called on mothers to prioritize instilling strong values in their children while fostering trust and open communication.

Speaking at the National Cybercrime Summit in Abuja, where the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) launched its 24/7 Rapid Response Desk, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of honesty and hard work as critical traits for success.

“No one can prosper without hard work and honesty,” she said, warning that straying from these values would have severe consequences. She urged mothers to form a bond with their children and guide them through life’s challenges without judgment.

Addressing the growing issue of cybercrime, Mrs. Tinubu highlighted the involvement of youth in online fraud as a threat to Nigeria’s economic development.

“With young people accounting for more than 60% of the population, youth involvement in cybercrime is a national concern,” she said.

Various leaders, including Minister of State for Youth, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, and Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, echoed the First Lady’s call for value reorientation and cultural respect as key strategies to curb cybercrime.

The newly launched EFCC 24/7 Rapid Response Desk is expected to enhance the agency’s capacity to respond swiftly to cybercrime incidents.
