The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has paid a condolence visit to Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, the wife of late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, following the passing of her mother-in-law, Hajia Dada Yar’Adua.
The visit took place at the Abuja residence of the Yar’Adua family, with the First Lady accompanied by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima, and other dignitaries, including the wives of the Speaker of the House of Representatives and the Deputy Senate President.
During the visit, Senator Tinubu extolled the virtues of the late matriarch, describing her as a woman who lived a fulfilled life, evidenced by the quality of the family she nurtured. She highlighted that true success for a woman is reflected not in her wealth or position but in how well she manages her family and the legacy she leaves behind.
“A truly successful and fulfilled woman is not defined by her wealth or status, but by how she trains her children and leaves a legacy for generations yet unborn. Dada Yar’Adua accomplished all these. She witnessed the blessings of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which is truly remarkable,” Senator Tinubu said.
The First Lady urged Hajia Turai Yar’Adua to remain strong and continue to uphold the family’s legacy, stepping into the shoes of the late matriarch.
In a heartfelt acknowledgment, Senator Tinubu expressed her gratitude to the former First Lady for her unwavering support and motherly advice despite their differing political affiliations.
“Despite our political differences, you have always been there to support me. Your advice has been invaluable,” she added.
Hajia Turai Yar’Adua, in her remarks, described her late mother-in-law as both a friend and a sister who provided comfort during trying times. She expressed her gratitude for the First Lady’s visit, acknowledging it as a great encouragement to the family.
Hajia Nana Shettima, the wife of the Vice President, offered prayers for the repose of the soul of the late Hajia Dada Yar’Adua and for the strength of the family left behind.
Also present during the visit were several children and extended family members of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua.
Hajia Dada Yar’Adua died on September 2, 2024, at the age of 102. She was the mother of the late former President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, the late General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, and Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua.
