Pressure is mounting on the police in Lagos to find the bandits who killed a TV broadcaster on Friday evening and abducted her daughter thereafter.
Several campaigns have been launched on various media platforms by terrified Nigerians who feared for the abducted child’s life, even as the police have launched a manhunt for the bandits.
Reports say 28-year-old Aisha Alli-Balogun Abiose was shot on a congested Asolo-Majidun Road via Ikorodu Expressway, in Lagos, as she struggled to stop the gunmen from taking her child away.
The English graduate of Lagos State University was a Relationship Manager and Broadcaster at Afrotainment Productions. She was the presenter of a popular comedy show, Stand-Up Nigeria.
Grieve stricken Nigerians have posted several emotional comments on Facebook to mourn the slain broadcaster and get security agents to save the child.
One Olayinka Akinloye posted: “Aisha Thelma Alli-Balogun Abiose… I have stared at your page a million and one times. This is a shock… May the good lord uphold your family, and your daughter is returned back home safely in the mighty name of Jesus (amen). Sun re ore. Heaven received an angel Dec 16th 2016.”
Fondly called Thelma, the slain presenter was married to Ajibola Yussuf Abiose with whom she had two children, a boy and a girl.
The girl-child identified as Fareeda was taken away by the bandits.
According to a source, one unidentified pregnant woman was also abducted at the spot by the kidnappers.
Born on March 7, 1988, the late Mrs Abiose attended Reagan Memorial Baptist Girls Secondary School and Lagos State University, where she had a BA in English, in 2009.
Mrs Abiose was also an actress. She was a contestant at the 2011 edition of The Next Movie Star reality show that was won by another actress, Tamara Eteimo.
Newsmakers learnt that the victim has been buried according to Islamic rites, while a huge campaign is building up in online news and social media, putting pressure on the police to find the abducted child.
