The Federal Government is set to enforce temporary suspension of all forms movement by road between Damaturu in Yobe State and Maiduguri in Borno State from Friday, August 9 till further notice.
A security source told NewsmakersNG that the decision followed the commencement of major counter-insurgency operations by security forces today to flush out terrorists from the area.
According to the source, the operation was concieved to neutralise the activities of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) which has engaged in a series of attacks against communities along the axis.
The source stated: “Security forces have commenced a major operation to flush ISWAP fighters from the Alangano forest, which is located in Damboa LGA of Borno State and stretches through to parts of Yobe State.
“Consequently, there is to be no vehicular movement between Damaturu and Maiduguri until further notice as from midnight August 9, 2019.”
