The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 (PTFCOVID-19) has updated protocols for travellers to Nigeria.
Travellers to Nigeria are now required to undergo a COVID-19 test four days after their arrival instead of the initial seven days.
This was contained in statement shared on Twitter by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) this afternoon.
The statement also says that travellers will now be required to show proof of payment for the post-arrival test before boarding.
The statement reads, “PTFCOVID19 has updated protocols for travellers to Nigeria with effect from 11th Jan. 2021
“All incoming travellers must take a #COVID19 PCR test not more than 4 days(96 hours) & show proof of payment for the post-arrival test before boarding.”
The latest announcement is coming as daily COVID-19 infections remain high in Nigeria.
Figures released by NCDC show that 1,565. confirmed cases were recorded in the country yesterday.
Nearly 1,000 of the new cases were recorded in Lagos State, which has remained the epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria.
