President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdullahi Mukhtar Muhammed as acting Chairman of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) pending the constitution of a new board.
Alhaji Muhammed had once served as the Chairman/CEO of NAHCON.
According to a circular from the acting secretary of the Commission, Alhaji M. Ahmed, the President made the appointment in exercise of powers conferred on him by the provisions of Section 171 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).
The circular says, “The appointment as conveyed by Secretary to the Government of the Federation through correspondence with reference no SGF 50/S.51/XXII/54 dated 13th May, 2019 is with effect from 25th May, 2019 until the constitution of a new Board.”
Ahmed urged all NAHCON staff to accord the acting Chairman all necessary cooperation to move the Commission to the next level.
