Afrobeat legend, Femi Kuti, has paid glowing tribute to his elder sister, Yeni Kuti, as she marked her 65th birthday.

He described her as the pillar who continues to hold the famous Kuti family together “through thick and thin”.

In a heartfelt message shared on X, the Grammy nominated musician showered prayers and praise on Yeni, popularly known as “YK Power”, calling her “ever radiant”, “beautiful”, and “one in a million”.

Femi wrote: “HBD LLNP to our ever radiant beautiful ever young lovely one in a million Sister YK Power… May you continue to be the pillar that holds the family together through thick and thin. We LOVE YOU.”

The emotional tribute highlights the close bond within the renowned Kuti dynasty, one of Africa’s most influential musical and activist families.

Yeni Kuti, daughter of late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, has long played a visible role in preserving and promoting the family’s legacy.

She co manages the iconic New Afrika Shrine in Lagos alongside Femi and has remained a central figure in the annual Felabration festival established in honour of their father after his death in 1997.

Over the years, members of the Kuti family have repeatedly acknowledged Yeni’s unifying influence.

Previous birthday tributes from Femi, Seun and other relatives have described her as a “powerful matriarch”, “force for good”, and a dependable source of support within the family.

Femi himself remains one of the leading global ambassadors of Afrobeat, continuing the political and musical tradition established by his father.

The saxophonist and singer has built an international career spanning decades through his band Positive Force and socially conscious music addressing corruption, inequality and governance.
