The New Afrika Shrine in Ikeja, Lagos, venue of the ongoing annual ‘Felabration’ festival was taken over by the police this morning following a bloody fight that broke our earlier in the day

Scores of personnel of the Rapid Response Squad of the Lagos police command are patrolling the surrounding areas to forestall further breakout of violence.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the fight began following a disagreement between two groups of revellers.

The festival attracts thousands of music faithful within and outside Nigeria, while both local and international music stars grace the stage to celebrate the legacies of the Afro-music legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti.

The week-long event began on October 15 and ends tomorrow.

The RRS in a tweet on the handle, @rrslagos767, disclosed that some suspects had been arrested.

The tweet reads: “The fight that broke out at the New African Shrine early this morning has been quelled. Aggressive Convoy patrol of the area by RRS teams is going on to forestall a repeat. Some suspects have also been arrested. #TheGoodGuys.”
