Fela Kuti’s ‘Zombie’ Used as Opening Song for Biden, Harris First Campaign Outing

Afrobeat legend, late Fela Anikulapo Kuti, came alive again on the world stage today as one of his hit tracks, Zombie, was used as prelude to the upcoming first joint conference by the US Democratic Party Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Biden announced Harris as his pick for vice president yesterday.

Biden who tweeted the prelude to his first joint campaign outing with Harris this afternoon, with Fela’s music playing in the background, wrote, “This afternoon, @KamalaHarris and I will be speaking together for the first time since yesterday’s big announcement. Tune in.”
