One-thousand bags of rice were on Saturday distributed by Hon. Olumide Osoba, a member of the House of Representatives representing Abeokuta North, Obafemi-Owode, and Odeda local government areas in Ogun State, to his constituents.
The distribution event was held at the expansive private residence of his father, former Ogun State Governor Chief Olusegun Osoba, located in the Government Reservation Area (GRA), Ibara, Abeokuta.
Leaders from various wards within the constituency gathered to receive the donations on behalf of their communities.
This initiative marks the first phase of Osoba’s efforts to address food shortages within his constituency, with additional distributions planned to cover the three local government areas.
Hon. Osoba emphasized that the donations would be an ongoing exercise, extending beyond ward leaders to include religious organizations, community development associations, artisans, market women, and the media, among others.
“The distribution of these 1,000 bags of rice across the federal constituency is just the beginning. We plan to reach more organizations and communities in the coming weeks,” Osoba said.
In response to the initiative, Lukmon Jimoh, Chairman of Ward 10 in Odeda local government, expressed gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries.
He said, “This is not the first time Hon. Osoba has extended such gestures. Earlier, he provided us with beans and other essentials. This marks the third time in a year. We are deeply appreciative and pray for his continued success.”
Peter Enitan, from Ward 15 Ilewo-Isaga in Abeokuta North local government, praised Osoba’s dedication to the constituency, calling him the best representative the area has had.
He added, “We consistently feel the positive impact of Hon. Osoba’s actions in our wards, and we are incredibly grateful for his generosity.”
Alhaji Sakariyau Fatai, representing Ward 3 in Obafemi-Owode local government, echoed similar sentiments, noting Osoba’s unwavering support for his constituents. He assured the lawmaker of their steadfast political backing.
