The race for top jobs in the federal civil service has begun as directors jostle for five vacant Permanent Secretary positions recently approved by President Bola Tinubu.
Two of the vacancies arose from retirements in Imo State and the Federal Capital Territory, while three more opened up following the creation of new ministries in the North Central, North East and South East zones.
To qualify, contenders must be Grade Level 17 directors with at least two years in rank, a clean disciplinary record and clearance from their supervising Permanent Secretaries.
They are also required to file asset declarations with the Code of Conduct Bureau and obtain security clearances from the EFCC, ICPC and DSS.
The selection process kicks off with a written examination on September 15, followed by an ICT test on September 17.
Oral interviews will hold on September 19 before a high-powered panel made up of serving and retired Permanent Secretaries, former Heads of Service, the Federal Civil Service Commission chairman and private sector representatives.
Anti-corruption agencies will keep watch throughout the exercise.
The final shortlist will be sent to the President for approval.
Since coming to power, Tinubu has already named 26 Permanent Secretaries in batches, underscoring his drive to reshape the civil service leadership.
