The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for its in role the joint operation, codenamed: “reWired”.
The FBI gave the commendation in a post on its verified Twitter handle, @FBI, today.
The FBI-led ‘Operation reWired’ has resulted in the arrest of several suspected internet fraudsters, popularly called Yahoo Yahoo, both in Nigeria and the U.S.
The FBI tweet read: “Following FBI-led Operation reWired, Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission convicted a business email compromise (BEC) scammer. Even though many BEC scammers live overseas, the FBI still seeks to bring them to justice and potentially recover money for victims.”
