The Ekiti State Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has given those behind a statement purportedly suspending Governor Kayode Fayemi from the party, till the close of work today to confirm or deny the statement.
A statement signed by its leader, Mr Omotoso Paul, on behalf of the State Executive Committee, listed Senator Tony Adeniji, Senator Babafemi Ojudu, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, Congressman Bimbo Daramola, Hon Robinson Ajiboye, Hon Oye Ojo, Hon (Dr) Adewale Ominrin, and Hon Femi Adeleye as members of a rival State Executive Committee of APC in the State who had issued an earlier statement claiming to have suspended Fayemi.
According to the earlier statement by the rival group, the governor was suspended due to what they described as “his numerous anti-party activities, especially his role in the recently concluded governorship election in Edo State which is contrary to the provisions of Article 21 (A) (ii) of the APC Constitution”.
“We hereby call for the confirmation or denial of the said publication by the purported signatories between now and the close of work today, September 25, 2020,” says the counter statement issued by Paul.
