A bizarre sex fantasy turned deadly in California after an OnlyFans model allegedly wrapped a client in plastic “like a mummy” during a fetish session that ended with the man suffocating to death.
The shocking incident, which has sparked outrage and intense debate online, involved 31-year-old adult content creator Michaela Rylaarsdam and her 56-year-old client, Michael Dale, at the victim’s home in Escondido, California.
According to investigators, Dale had reportedly paid more than $11,000 for the private bondage session, which was allegedly being filmed for online content.
But what began as an extreme fetish encounter soon spiralled into tragedy.
Police said the victim was found unconscious with plastic wrap around his body, tape on his face, and a plastic bag over his head. Prosecutors revealed that Dale had asked to be wrapped tightly “like a mummy,” but authorities insist there was no indication he wanted his breathing obstructed.
Medical examiners later ruled that he died from asphyxiation, a lack of oxygen caused by restricted breathing.
Investigators reportedly discovered disturbing videos and photographs from the session on the model’s phone, adding another dramatic twist to the already sensational case.
Rylaarsdam was initially facing a murder charge but later accepted a plea deal after prosecutors agreed there was no evidence she intended to kill the victim. She pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and is expected to serve a four-year prison sentence.
The chilling case has triggered renewed warnings from safety experts about the deadly risks linked to dangerous fetish practices involving suffocation, restraint, and plastic coverings.
Authorities say even a few minutes without proper airflow can quickly become fatal.
Online, reactions have ranged from disbelief to outrage, with many describing the incident as “a nightmare gone too far” and “a deadly obsession for internet content.”
