The police in Ondo are hunting for one Deji Adenuga, who allegedly burnt down the family house of his ex-girlfriend, Titi Saanumi, killing five children in the household.
Three other family members, who were also injured in the inferno, were rushed to Ondo Trauma Center in Ondo town.
Police have not released the identities of the victims.
NewsmakersNG learnt that the incident occurred in the early hours of yesterday at Adetuwo Street in Igbodigo, Okitipupa Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was reportedly angered by the decision of his girlfriend to end their relationship of several years and decided to punish her and the family.
But, unknown to him, the girlfriend had travelled out of town a day before he set the family house on fire in the early hours of Tuesday.
The fire reportedly started around 2.45 am, burning the victims beyond recognition.
