Famed Ekiti Entrepreneur, Yinka Agbebi, Dies 24 Days after Husband’s Demise

Ololade Adeyanju/

Chief (Mrs) Yinka Agbebi, who was arguably the most notable female entrepreneur in the old Ondo State, has died at the age of 76.

Her death appeared symbolic having occurred barely three weeks after her husband, Chief Ayo Agbebi, passed away on August 3, aged 80.

Two months away from her husband’s burial, scheduled for November 26, the successful businesswoman, fashion icon, virtuous wife, and gospel minister passed on to join her heartthrob.

Family sources told NewsmakersNG that she passed away peacefully at her home in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti Sate capital, yesterday.

The deceased bestrode the business landscape of the old Ondo State, now comprising Ekiti and Ondo states, like a colossus from the mid seventies to the early nineties.

Notable among her numerous business ventures include, Yinka Morenike Plywood and Wood Work Indsutries, 15-kilometre forest reserve of different species to service the sawmill and wood industries, Yinka Quarry and Yinka Knitting, where sweaters are produced for more than 10 secondary schools in the old Ondo State.

Others include petrol stations, palm oil plantation and the landmark Yinka Agbebi Estate (popularly called Ile Yinka) in Ado-Ekiti.

Also, her husband, a retired school principal, founded Christ the King College, Ado-Ekiti, as one of the pioneers of private secondary education in the country.
