A fake soldier has been arrested in a police station in Katsina State.

NewsmakersNG gathered that the suspect, Bashir Raba Mohammed, engaged in criminal activities in Kano and Katsina states, while posing as a military personnel.

But his cover was blown, when he pushed his luck by attempting to fraudulently obtain a police report from the central police station, in Daura.

A statement today by the police public relations officer, DSP Gambo Isah, says: “The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a fake soldier, one Bashir Raba Mohammed of Rijiya Lemu quarters, Kano State.

“The suspect went in full army camouflage to the Central Police Station Daura, with a Lifan motorcycle and met the Divisional Police Officer with a request for a police report in respect of lost particulars of his motorcycle.

“The DPO was however suspicious and made some background checks on the suspect, which revealed that he was actually not a military personnel but an imposter.

“After his arrest, the suspect confessed that he was involved in the transportation of Indian hemp from Kano to Daura with his motorbike, while disguised as a soldier.”
