A self-styled Yoruba monarch in the Republic of Ireland has allegedly been defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians in the diaspora by conferring them with fake traditional titles for which he charges a minimum 1,500 Euros.

The alleged impostor, identified as Saheed Ibrahim, also parades himself as Chairman of Council of Yoruba Obas in the Diaspora.

These allegations were made by Prince Akanni Segun Olalekan, an aide of the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland and leader of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Otunba Gani Adams, in a Facebook post today.

Akanni’s post reads: “The face of a dubious impostor and a self-acclaimed Yoruba Oba in Ireland (Mr Saheed Ibrahim). He has been warned not to parade himself as an Oba in Nigeria anymore.

“A King without a Kingdom, no traditional rites, No instruments of Office…. This is alien to our culture and tradition.

“Conferring chieftaincy titles on people, collecting 1,500 euro from each of them. Claiming he’s the Chairman of Council of Yoruba Obas in Diaspora.

“It’s time to rise against this impunity.”

A search through Ibrahim’s Facebook page by NewsmakersNG reveals that he addresses himself as “Hrm Oba Dr Saheed Olamikan Ibrahim Adufe Ori Lobamise 1st Oba Yoruba Republic of Ireland”.
