Exclusive: Nigerian Man Stabbed to Death by Kinsman in Brazil

A Brazil-based Nigerian man was suddenly stabbed to death last night in Sao Paulo, Brazil by his kinsman, who at the time of this report is yet to be arrested by the police.

Eyewitnesses told NewsmakersNG that the victim, simply identified as 48-year-old Elochukwu, a native of Enugu State was involved in an argument with another Nigerian man named as Chike.

According to the eyewitnesses, Chike had refused to comply with the terms of payment agreed upon whenever they make money from a business which some Nigerians interviewed at the scene identified as a drug deal.

During the heated argument, Elochukwu pounced on Chike and promised not to let him go until he is paid, but Chike went straight into the nearest shop, grabbed a knife, and dashed back to stab Elochukwu to death, NewsmakersNG was told at the scene of the incident.

The knife pierced through one side of the victim’s neck to the other.

Elochukwu bled to death, even though he was immediately rushed to the hospital.

He died at exactly 18.hours Brazilian time.

This incident occurred at the popular Galeria do Rock, a popular mall in Sao Paulo, where most Nigerians are having their business offices, shops and restaurants.

The representative of the Nigerian community in Sao Paulo, one Mr Nicolas, told NewsmakersNG that Elochukwu was married with four children.

Chike, however, fled the scene of the incidence immediately he was about to be mobbed by other Africans around.

The police in Brazil have launched a manhunt for Chike.

If arrested and prosecuted for homicide in Brazil, the suspect could get up to 30 years in jail.

NewsmakersNG learnt that killings among Nigerians living in Brazil is very common, and it’s usually linked to shady businesses.
