Members of the family of the 89-year-old woman and her 38-year-old pregnant daughter killed in Lagos by a newly employed houseboy, have made a fresh discovery today putting a lie to claims that a fork was the murder weapon.

The family earlier today called in the police when they found a hidden bloodstained knife that was used by the suspected killer who had told officers that he used a fork and his claim was allegedly supported by an autopsy which the police claimed to have conducted.

NewsmakersNG uncovered the fresh facts during a visit to House Number 4, Ogunlana Drive at Surulere, Lagos, where the houseboy, Joseph Ogbu, allegedly killed Mrs Adejoke John, a retired nurse and her daughter Oreoluwa, who was expecting a baby.

They were killed on June 19, 2019.

NewsmakersNG also received insider accounts of the good life the family had offered the houseboy who killed the victims in less than 24 hours in the household and the efforts made to clean up his act.

The houseboy was trusted so much that he was given a decent bedroom near the grandma’s room.

The octogenarian who had booked a hall as part of plans with her children, home and abroad, to celebrate her 90th birthday on April 14, 2020, was strangled in her bedroom after the houseboy had stabbed her daughter to death at a corridor near her room.

Before Ogbu commenced the killing, he threw the house into darkness and sank the Led Bright Motion Sensor Light at the passage inside the water closet.

NewsmakersNG investigations revealed that after stabbing Oreoluwa to death with a knife, Ogbu ransacked a sack of cloths near his room and brought out wrappers to wipe the blood on the floor. He then moved into the old woman’s room adjacent his own. He dragged her to the floor behind her bed, pinned her down and strangled her.

He later conducted a clinical search of the house to steal jewellery from a big box on the cupboard along with other valuables.

He also allegedly moved some valuable properties such as electronics, handsets and household items into the victim’s Toyota Camry car and attempted to escape with it when he was caught.

The late Mrs John, who was the landlady at House Number 4, Ogunlana Drive, lived alone with her daughter. She had two domestic servants in the past.

She lost her husband when she was 52 years old, one of her children, Mrs Sikeola Idowu told NewsmakersNG today as sympathizers continued to troop to the house.

Mrs John, who hailed from Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, was planning to visit one of her daughters on the day she was killed. She had also secured a 10-year visa on her passport in the hope of spending some time with her children abroad.

The agent who brought the houseboy is now with the police assisting detectives in their investigation.
