Three awards have been received in Brazil, by African Pop King, Innocent Ujah Idibia aka 2Baba after his performance at Espaco Vic, in Sao Paulo.
The awards were presented by Mac Alexander, the Brazil-based Nigerian D.J and music promoter behind 2Baba’s tour of Brazil.
2Baba bagged three international awards for his exceptional musical talent and contributions to the Nigerian and African culture and entertainment industry.
2Baba’s music tour to the Latin American country was in commemoration of his 20 years on stage.
The pop star was also given academic honours by the Brazil-Africa Music and Entertainment Institute and the African Cultural Center, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
The President of Brazil Africa music and entertainment institute and the African cultural centre, Otunba Adekunle Aderounmu, in his speech at the award presentation, named the music legend the honorary African music ambassador and grand patron of the Institute and of the Africans in Brazil.
The night also witnessed performances from supporting artistes, including a Brazil-based one-time Nigerian finalist in ‘The Voice Brazil’, Lumi. He sang in both English and Portuguese. The African Reggae Artiste, Mr Carribean, also dazzled the audience with his reggae raps.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Brazil, Honorable CJN Okeke, was also a recipient of the award of excellence for his exceptional contribution to the success of the event and unending supports towards the growth of sócio-cultural activities between Brazil and Nigeria.
Honourable Frank Utomi, who represented the embassy, congratulated the organizers and encouraged the Nigerians in Brazil to continue doing the country proud.
Dignitaries at the event included the Provost of the South-South Movement in Brazil, Comrade James Osuna; the honorable members of the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil; members of the African cultural center in Brazil; Brazil-based Nigerian Actor, film producer, YouTuber and photographer, Mr Chido Chifex (Afrolinks), NewsmakersNG’s Editor-at-Large, Adeyinka Olaiya; Brazil-based Nigerian Fuji maestro, Mr Chicago, Mr Fatboy and several other artistes and comedians who all made the night a success.
In appreciation, 2Baba thanked the organizers, expressed big gratitude for the reception he had in Brazil and promised to visit Brazil again in the future for more shows. He ended up saying “Obrigado”, the Thank You word in Portuguese.
Alexander thanked the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil, the Brazilian Embassy in Nigeria, the media partners of the event (NewsmakersNG) and 2Baba for honouring the invitation to visit Brazil.
