Former governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Sule Lamido, is to be remanded in prison until May 4 when applications for his bail will be decided, says Chief Magistrate Usman Lamin today.
Reports say the magistrate requested for time to decide on the application for bail and police’s report on the case in which Lamido was accused of incitement against the state.
The Chief Magistrate ruled that Lamido should be remanded in Dutse prison until May 4 when applications for his bail would be decided.
Meanwhile, PDP has called for the unconditional release of all political detainees in government custody including Lamido.
Lamido was arraigned at the Chief Magistrate’s Court two in Dutse amidst tight security.
He was arrested early on Sunday, at his Sharada-Kano home, for allegedly trying to disrupt local government elections in Kano through his supporters.
Lamido allegedly made inciting statement, calling on his supporters to disrupt the local government elections slated for July 1.
According to the police, the ex-governor’s alleged offence is contrary to Section 114 of the penal code.
