The police in Ogun have nabbed two suspected robbers escaping with a car snatched in Lagos.

According to Ogun State police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the suspected armed robbers were caught in the early hours of Tuesday, June 1, 2021, while escaping with a vehicle they snatched in Lagos.

Oyeyemi stated: “The suspects, Raymond Chukwudi and Ekene Okoro were arrested by men of Federal Highway Patrol at Ajebandele, a boundary between Ogun and Ondo states while on stop and search. During the operation,  the officers stopped a Toyota Fortuner Jeep with registration number AGL 834 GU with three occupants.

“On interrogation, the occupants whose countenance looked suspicious were unable to give satisfactory information about the vehicle, hence the policemen put a call across to the owner, whose phone number was seen on the particulars, for further enquiry.

“Sensing that the game was over, one of the occupants fled, while the other two were quickly apprehended.

“The owner of the vehicle was later contacted, and he explained that the robbers invaded his house at Iriferiogoma Street Lakowe Phase 2, Ibeju Lekki, where they forcefully dispossessed him of the vehicle.

“The two suspects were handed over to the DPO Ogbere for investigation.

“Meanwhile, the commissioner of police (CP) Edward Awolowo Ajogun has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Department for onward transfer to Lagos State Command, where the culprits will be prosecuted.”
