A former minister of communication technology, Mrs. Omobola Johnson, has lent her voice to the growing call for the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police.
Omobola in a tweet today recalled how his son was almost shot by some police officers who accused him of loitering outside the gate of the family residence.
Her tweet came against the backdrop of the ongoing protests against police brutality and extortion by youths across several cities in the country.
The former minister tweeted, “My son was in front of our gate. He was told he was loitering. He was explaining that he lived there. The policeman cocked his gun and threatened to shoot him if he spoke again. My son kept quiet. Thank God he did. We really have to put an end to this #EndSarsNow.”
