Governor Nyesom Wike, accused of putting INEC officials on payroll and of working in concert with INEC to scuttle Port Harcourt bye-election

#EndSARS protesters in Rivers State have demanded the sack of Governor Nyesom Wike’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Promise Nwosu.

In a petition to Wike, the protesters accused Nwosu of extrajudicial killings and torture of suspects during his tenure as head of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers State.

The petition, which was signed by lawyer and human rights activist, Abdul Mahmud, noted that it was wrong for Nwosu to continue to enjoy the protection of the governor’s office while facing such weighty allegations.

The petition therefore urged Wike to immediately relieve Nwosu of his position to allow for an independent investigation of his activities as OC SARS between 2012 and 2015.

See a copy of the petition shared on Twitter by Mahmud, via @AbdulMahmud01:

Dear HE @GovWike, there are specific #EndSars complaints against your CSO, Promise Nwosu, while he was OC SARS, Rupkwoku. The complaints involved torture and extra-judicial killings, including killings in Omoku.

We are concerned that Promise Nwosu enjoys the official cover and protection of your office, while you filibuster on #EndSars.

Promise Nwosu and Akin Fakorede – both former OCs SARS – are two sides of the same coin. While we salute your efforts in exposing Akin, we call on you to relieve Promise Nwosu of his duties IMMEDIATELY.

Doing this will ensure #EndSars and independent scrutiny of the activities of Promise Nwosu between 2012 and 2015, without the protection of your office. Please, treat as URGENT.

Accept the assurances of my warmest regards.

Sincerely,

Abdul Mahmud, AKA Great Oracle.
