One of the drivers of the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo (SAN), was reportedly killed by a motorist who was fleeing from suspected thugs who attacked the #EndSARS protesters in Abuja yesterday.
Eyewitnesses told NewsmakersNG that the deceased was hit by the vehicle around Berger area of Abuja, when the driver drove against traffic after sighting suspected thugs attacking the protesters and destroying their vehicles.
The minister confirmed the incident in a tweet this morning, blaming it on yesterday’s #EndSARS protest in Abuja.
According to Keyamo, the driver, Mr. Yohanna Shankuk, died as a result of the protest by youths against police brutality and extortion in the country.
He tweeted, “I regret to announce that my driver, Mr. Yohanna Shankuk, died yesterday in Abuja as a result of the protests.
“A vehicle that saw advancing protesters at Berger roundabout, made a U-turn, took the one-way back and ran over him as he was making his way on foot to my private office.”
