Two unidentified men were shot dead by policemen today amid fracas during the House of Assembly election at Oba-Akoko, in Akoko West local government area of Ondo State.
Confirming the incident, the state police spokesman, Mr Femi Joseph explained that the men attacked security agents, damaged their vehicle and set it ablaze as the officers were on their way to the collation center.
According to Joseph, about 20 other suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
“They ambushed security agents and they began to shoot at them. I think one or two of the youths were gunned down. They destroyed police vehicle and burnt it down. They equally attempted to burn a Police station in the area,” Joseph said.
Meanwhile, the state government has imposed a curfew that will last till 6am tomorrow in the affected area.
