Senior police officers from Lagos and Ogun states, including the Commissioners of Police and Area Commanders, today converged on the Zone 2 Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos, for a strategic training programme designed to sharpen professionalism, neutrality and operational preparedness ahead of upcoming elections.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, joined his Ogun State counterpart, CP Bode Ojajuni, Area Commanders from both commands and other senior officers at the programme under the leadership of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, AIG Moshood Jimoh.
Held at the M.D. Abubakar Hall, Zone 2 Headquarters, the one-day training was organised by the Nigeria Police Force, Zone 2 Zonal Headquarters, in collaboration with the Institute for Police and Security Policy Research.
With the theme, “Professionalism, Neutrality and Collaboration: Strengthening Election Security for Safe and Credible Elections,” the programme forms part of proactive measures by the Nigeria Police Force to strengthen the capacity of officers who will play critical roles in election security.
The training focused on reinforcing political neutrality, professionalism and operational readiness among police personnel while promoting effective collaboration necessary for safe, peaceful and credible elections.
Participants included the 14 Area Commanders of the Lagos State Police Command and their counterparts from the Ogun State Command.
The gathering underscored the Force’s push to ensure that commanders and personnel deployed for electoral duties operate professionally and impartially while providing the security environment required for credible elections.
