Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has admitted that he is low on compassion and circumspection.
El-Rufai also reportedly said his wife and his new female deputy would help him improve in these areas.
El-Rufai, who has often been criticised for his hardline posture on sensitive issues, reportedly admitted these weaknesses while reacting to the Kaduna State inauguration lecture delivered by a former Director General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr. Joe Abah, in Kaduna yesterday.
The lecture which had since become a subject of heated debate on social media is entitled, ‘Taking Kaduna from Good to Great: The Challenge of Personal Example’.
In the lecture, Abah had highlighted nine qualities great leaders must have, including “Capacity, Capability, Credibility, Courage, Conscience, Consistency, Compassion, Circumspection and Communication”.
Reacting to a comment on the lecture on his verified Twitter handle, @DrJoeAbah, Abah wrote: “After my lecture below, Governor @elrufai said ‘Of the 9 ‘C’s, my wife underlined two words: Compassion and Circumspection. They are two areas I am not too strong on, and I will try and improve. She will help me and so will my incoming Deputy Governor’.”
