Anti-graft agents in Kano have given a scorecard showing huge sums and properties recovered from criminals since May 2019 till date.
According to the Kano Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headed by Mr Akan Ezima, the sum of N857, 936, 940 was recovered in parts, comprising of N588, 136, 940 and $710,300.
Other recoveries made by the Kano Zonal Office are ¥2,800, and another SAR294, 950.
Within the same period, the zonal office filed 94 criminal cases in different courts and recorded a total of 30 convictions. It also secured forfeitures of different properties which includes houses, plots of land, shopping complexes and several vehicles.
The Commission’s Zonal Office says it is investigating an alleged Money Laundering case which has led to the sealing and attaching of several properties worth Billions of Naira on which the EFCC has secured an Interim Forfeiture Order from Federal High Court. The properties include 9 Filling Stations, 9 Plots of Land; two plazas consisting of a 3-story building and one event centre in different states of the federation.
