The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has placed former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, at the centre of a public engagement quiz shared on its official social media platforms, drawing widespread attention and reactions online.

The quiz, tagged EFCC Quiz January 2026, includes a question asking participants to identify a former governor being prosecuted by the Commission for allegedly using state resources to pay his children’s school fees in advance.

Yahaya Bello is listed among the multiple-choice options, a move that immediately attracted public interest given his ongoing legal battle with the anti-graft agency.

Another question in the quiz references a politically exposed person currently facing prosecution by the EFCC who was reportedly held in prison custody alongside his wife and son during the last festive season.

Former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, appears among the answer options for that question.

According to the EFCC, the quiz forms part of its public engagement strategy aimed at promoting civic awareness and encouraging Nigerians to follow its anti-corruption efforts.

The Commission announced that three participants who correctly answer the questions will each receive N5,000 worth of airtime.

The agency stated that the competition is not open to its officers or members of their families.

Since it was posted, the quiz has generated mixed reactions across social media platforms, with users debating the questions, sharing screenshots, and commenting on the EFCC’s decision to reference ongoing and high-profile cases involving former public officials in a quiz format.

The EFCC encouraged members of the public to participate using the hashtag #EFCCQuiz, although it did not indicate when the exercise would close.
