EFCC Uncovers ‘Yahoo Academy’ in Akwa Ibom, Arrests 23 Suspects

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered a building in Akwa Ibom State where young men are allegedly trained in internet fraud and other aspects of cyber crime.

Operatives of the Commission attached to the Uyo zonal office reportedly raided the building, referred to as ‘Yahoo Academy’, located on Essien Essien street in Ikot Ibiok village on Thursday following a tip-off.

Laptops allegedly recovered from the suspects

NewsmakersNG learnt that 23 suspects, with ages between 19 and 35, were arrested during the raid.

Some of the suspects have allegedly confessed that they were undergoing training in different aspects of cybercrime, including love scam, online trading scam and identity theft.
