The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Abdulazeez Gbadebo, a filling station manager with Emadeb Energy Service Limited, for allegedly diverting N500 million belonging to his employer.
In a statement on Thursday, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said Gbadebo was apprehended by operatives of the Commission’s Kaduna Zonal Directorate following a petition from the company.
An external audit reportedly revealed that he manipulated fuel pump meters, sold bulk petrol to customers, and diverted the proceeds into his personal bank accounts.
Investigations further showed that he also sold diesel in large quantities, with payments made directly to his private accounts.
The EFCC disclosed that items recovered from him include two Mercedes Benz cars, three Mini Coopers, a certificate of occupancy, an authorisation letter from the Kaduna Geographical Information System (KADGIS), a fully detached three-bedroom bungalow, and three landed properties.
The Commission said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
