The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has honoured the memory of Assistant Superintendent of the EFCC, Aminu Sahabi Salisu, who lost his life in the line of duty, by naming the administrative block of its Academy in Karu, Abuja, after him.
The announcement was made by the EFCC Chairman, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, during the Annual Rewards and Recognition Ceremony held yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Olukoyede praised Salisu’s dedication and sacrifice. “We are saddened by the loss of our officer while on official assignment. He was a gallant officer, and to this effect, the administrative block of the Academy is hereby named after him,” he said.
The ceremony also recognised 36 outstanding EFCC officers in various categories, including sections with the highest recoveries and convictions, best departmental staff, and staff of the year.
Chief Superintendent of the EFCC, Alvan Gurumnaan, was named Staff of the Year, while the Sokoto Zonal Directorate clinched the award for Best Zonal Directorate.
Addressing the recipients, Olukoyede urged them to maintain high standards. “Excellence is not about doing things right once in a while; it is about doing things right all the time. The reward for hard work is more work,” he emphasised.
He further revealed that 900 staff members had been promoted and announced the reinstatement of life and property insurance for EFCC personnel.
The EFCC Chairman also issued a stern warning against compromising the commission’s core values. “The internal cleansing going on in the Commission will spare no one,” he stressed, signaling a continued focus on accountability within the organization.
The event was attended by top EFCC officials and celebrated as a moment of reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment to the fight against financial crimes.
