Following public outcry over the conduct of his men during a sting operation at Regional Hotel, Ojo, Lagos, the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has ordered the arrest of the officers involved in the incident.
Captured in a viral video that sparked public outrage, the officers were seen manhandling a female hotel staff member during an early morning sting operation in which 117 suspected cyber criminals were arrested.
The video quickly made the rounds on social media, drawing widespread condemnation and calls for accountability.

Responding swiftly, Olukoyede ordered the immediate arrest of the implicated officers. The EFCC head also mandated a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the operation, which led to the detention of numerous suspects still undergoing profiling.
In his statement, Olukoyede reassured the public of the EFCC’s unwavering commitment to professionalism and adherence to the rule of law.
“We will not tolerate any form of misconduct within our ranks,” he said, promising that any officer found guilty of unprofessional behavior would face strict disciplinary measures.
The outcome of the investigation and the subsequent actions taken will be closely watched as a litmus test for the Commission’s commitment to ethical conduct.
