Anti-fraud agents in Benin City, Edo State, have held three suspects including two brothers over cyber fraud.
The suspects were identified as Oseghale Collins, Stephen, and Fred Emefiele who were brothers in blood and in crime.
According to a statement issued by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Collins was arrested on August 20, at his hideout in Benin City. He allegedly specialises in Business Email Compromise (BEC).
Stephen and Fred Emefiele were allegedly involved in internet fraud.
In his confessional statement, Collins stated that he was into BEC and that he used to search for his victims’ email addresses especially official business email addresses, create a phishing link and compromise the process in order to defraud unsuspecting victims.
When EFCC agents arrived their apartment in the Government Reservation Area, GRA, in Benin City, they allegedly met what appeared to be a work station of Laptops, printer, internet modem, flash drive, with which they operate. The agents also recovered a Mercedes Benz ML 350 from the suspect.
EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said that the suspects had made useful statements and would be charged to court as soon as investigations were completed.
