A property housing the Abuja offices of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has become the centre of online attention after it was allegedly listed for sale on X for N800 million.

X user @osere_x posted an advertisement for what they described as a “HOTEL AVAILABLE” in Abuja, adding an agent fee of N120 million and inviting “only serious buyers” to direct message them.

The building in question is the EFCC Headquarters in Abuja.

The post quickly went viral, prompting a reaction from the EFCC itself.

On its official X handle @officialEFCC, the commission tweeted: “Hmmm…. You get mind oooo”, expressing both disbelief and humour at the audacious listing.

Social media users reacted with a mix of amusement and caution, sharing screenshots and joking about the audacity of trying to sell government property online.

Legal experts warn that misrepresenting or attempting to sell state-owned assets could have serious consequences under Nigerian law.

As of now, the EFCC has not indicated any formal investigation into the X account behind the post.
