Some suspected criminals in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State allegedly had a shootout with policemen on election duty in the area.
The police team on election duty, headed by Commissioner of Police (CP) Omololu Bishi in charge of Edo North Senatorial District, were attacked by the hoodlums while on Ward by Ward election monitoring.
NewsmakersNG learnt that although the suspected leader of the gang escaped arrest, some of his boys were arrested and taken to Auchi.
The policeman injured during the shootout is receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
According to police authorities, no death was recorded as officers promptly swung into action to bring sanity to the area.
