In a dramatic development, the Edo State House of Assembly has formally summoned its lawmaker, Natasha Osawaru, now married to music star 2Baba, following a viral video of the couple in a heated altercation at a London airport.
The incident, which has sparked outrage across political and public spheres, reportedly saw Osawaru shouting repeatedly at 2Baba inside an airport shop, exclaiming “Don’t do that! Don’t fucking do it!” and questioning why he was “raising his voice” at her.
According to the House’s Speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, the video, now widely circulated on social media and television, “dragged the name of the House into the mud,” prompting the decision to convene the Ethics and Privileges Committee to investigate Osawaru’s conduct.
The summons gives Osawaru just one week to appear before the Committee. She must explain why her public actions should not be judged as bringing the Assembly into disrepute.
The Committee has been given two weeks to submit its findings.
The controversy deepens against a backdrop of public interest in Osawaru’s high-profile relationship with 2Baba.
The singer proposed to her in February 2025, mere weeks after announcing his separation from his estranged wife, and the couple have since appeared repeatedly together in public and online, from boutique shopping outings to appearances at the state’s election tribunal in Abuja.
But the airport incident has cast a long shadow over Osawaru’s political standing.
Sources close to the Assembly say that the House is determined to reclaim its dignity and has made clear that the behaviour captured on video will not be tolerated.
In parallel, rumours have intensified following reports from a former member of 2Baba’s management team, who confirms the singer was arrested by London police after the confrontation.
For the lawmaker, the coming days may well determine not just her future as a public representative but also the public’s tolerance for private scandal crossing into the halls of government.
