The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has dismissed all political appointees, traditional rulers, and community leaders from Amasiri following the brutal beheading of four residents in a violent clash in the neighbouring Oso community.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Nwifuru announced that all government appointees from Management Committee members to Commissioners originating from Amasiri have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect.

“All Traditional Rulers are hereby dethroned and their certificates of recognition invalidated,” the statement read.

In addition, all Community Development Union Presidents and Village Heads from Amasiri were removed from office immediately.

Security sources confirmed that the attack, which resulted in four fatalities, is part of a long-standing dispute between Amasiri and Oso communities over land ownership and local leadership.

The violence has heightened tensions in the area, prompting urgent intervention by state authorities.

Nwifuru said the sweeping action reflects the state government’s determination to restore peace and prevent further loss of lives.

He urged residents to cooperate with security agencies and refrain from retaliatory violence while investigations continue.

The Ebonyi State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation into the incident, and additional security personnel have been deployed to the affected areas to forestall further clashes.

Residents are also being encouraged to participate in dialogue forums facilitated by the government to address the underlying causes of the conflict and ensure sustainable peace
