Driver, Motor Boy, Divert N23m Nestle Products

It’s a popular word of wisdom that one should be contented with what one has but this is not the belief of six men arrested by the police for allegedly diverting a truckload of Nestle products.
The conspiracy to divert the goods would have fetched the suspects millions of naira, but luck ran out on them when operatives attached to the Zone 2 Intervention Squad, Onikan, in Lagos, trailed the Volvo truck marked AAA 428 XE belonging to GBC Transport along Ijebu- Ode Expressway.
The truck, according to the police, was loaded with Nestle products from Nestle PLC Agbara. It was on its way to Edo State.
The police have since arrested six men over the theft and diversion of the loaded truck. The driver was found to have connived with his conductor and other collaborators to divert the goods.
The suspects were identified as Orbo Andrew, Sylvester Inwomoh, Lateef Bello, Ademola Ademola, Emmanuel Route and Rob Momoh.
The principal suspect Andrew said, “I have worked with the company for three years as a driver. My salary is N19, 800, but it is not enough. I decided to connive with Lateef the motor boy to get the goods diverted. He was the one that brought the others. My mother is dead and I have a lot of responsibilities. I felt I should sell the goods and make quick money.”
The alleged receiver of the stolen goods one Ademola, who claimed to be a businessman dealing in oil and gas, blamed bad friends for his involvement with the gang.
He said, “I am into oil and gas business at Apapa. I met Lateef at the depot. He told me that he had the waybill for the goods. He said that I should help him get a truck to move the goods. I told him I don’t have a truck and I called a friend called Tade. Initially I did not know that the goods were stolen and were being diverted, but I later got to know. Then, it was too late as police swooped on us and we were arrested.”
