Not less than 52 vehicles have been impounded by the Lagos State Task-force and the owners charged to the state’s mobile court for driving against oncoming vehicles.
The task-force chairman, SP Yinka Egbeyemi, said: “The act is contrary to schedule (1), item 27 of the Lagos state road traffic laws of 2012.
“The Agency will never relent in its effort to curb this menace regardless of the propaganda some unscrupulous elements are circulating on the internet, denting the good image of the Lagos state task-force.
“We urge all motorists to be law abiding and shun any illegality on the roads most especially Lagos-Abeokuta expressway by Dopemu Bridge, Ikorodu Road, Apongbon Bridge and other roads in Lagos.”
NewsmakersNG hereby brings you a reminder on the New Lagos Traffic Rules:
Lagos Traffic Law regime is designed to protect law abiding road users. It is also designed to ensure that those who flout any of its stipulations are made to face the consequences of their action so that they can be reformed and join the law abiding group.
Traffic offences are called strict liability offences: you do the offence, you pay the consequence. However, the traffic management regime is not designed to empower officials of any agency of the State to molest, intimidate, extort or make a law breaker out of any Lagos resident/stakeholder through the demanding and giving of bribes so as to avoid unsavory situations.
