The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) has announced the appointment of Dr. Musibau Lanre Olasunkanmi as its new Registrar/Chief Executive.
According to the authorities, the Governing Council of the Institute approved Dr. Olasunkanmi’s appointment at its December 15, 2023 meeting.
ICAN made the announcement in a statement today, stressing that the strategic decision underscored its unwavering commitment to nurturing an exceptional leadership team, guiding the Institute toward a future marked by sustained growth and influence.
ICAN stated: “Dr. Olasunkanmi assumed the Registrar/Chief Executive role on February 1, 2024, succeeding Mr. Mukaila Lawal, FCA, the Acting Registrar/Chief Executive, who will retire on March 1, 2024.
“Bringing over 16 years of professional experience spanning various functional areas and having held leadership positions in both the private and public sectors, Dr. Olasunkanmi is a dynamic and forward-thinking leader.
“His extensive background in diverse areas of accounting and his occupancy of various strategic leadership positions affirm his capability to significantly contribute to elevating ICAN’s global standing as one of the foremost Professional Accountancy Organizations.
“Dr. Olasunkanmi holds a Ph.D. in Forensic Accounting & Audit from Charisma University, Turks and Caicos Island, UK; M.Sc. in Accounting from Afe Babalola University; MBA from the University of Lagos; B.Sc. in Accounting from Adekunle Ajasin University; and HND in Accounting from the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti.
A Fellow of ICAN and the Association of Corporate Governance of Nigeria, Dr. Olasunkanmi also holds membership in the Association of Business Recovery & Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN), the Association of Forensic Accounting Researchers, and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, USA.
“The new Registrar/Chief Executive, Dr. Olasunkanmi, will collaborate with a nimble Secretariat team and forward-looking Governing Council to advance ICAN’s strategic vision, foster industry collaboration, and uphold the Institute’s commitment to excellence.
