Nigerian governance expert and lawyer, Dr Joe Abah, has stirred social media conversations after posting advice urging men to show restraint and avoid revenge after relationship breakdowns, a comment many users interpreted as a veiled reference to the ongoing public rift between Senator Ned Nwoko and actress, Regina Daniels.

Writing on X to his more than 726,000 followers, Abah counselled men to prioritise dignity and their children’s well-being over bitterness.

“When you fall out with a woman that has had children for you, you must do everything possible not to destroy her, no matter how angry you are,” he wrote. “You must restrain yourself for the sake of your children and for your own dignity as a man and a father.”

He concluded the post with his trademark sign-off, “I am Ezemmua. I know things,” a phrase he often uses to underscore posts offering advice or personal insight.

The post, which quickly went viral, attracted thousands of reactions and reposts.

Many users applauded his wisdom, saying it was timely given the current tension between Senator Nwoko and Regina Daniels following their highly publicised split.

Others suggested his words offered broader lessons on emotional control, parenting, and mutual respect after separation.

Responses on X highlighted the challenges of co-parenting amid marital breakdowns and the importance of maintaining civility for the sake of children.

Several users also noted that the advice could apply to both men and women navigating toxic relationships.

Abah, a former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms and respected public policy commentator, is known for his witty but measured commentary on governance and social issues.

His latest post, however, appears to have struck a deeper chord, resonating far beyond the usual policy discussions.
