Music producer and entrepreneur, Don Jazzy, has pledged N20 million to support an ambitious initiative aimed at providing 10,000 laptops to Nigerian youths.

The project, known as the Tech Access Project, was launched earlier in the week through an open letter written by physician, Ayilola Ayotomiwa, who called on Don Jazzy to back the vision of empowering 10,000 aspiring techies, designers and entrepreneurs across Nigeria.

In his letter, Ayotomiwa described the initiative as a response to the growing digital divide in the country, saying, “Our vision is simple but deeply powerful: to give young Nigerians, especially those passionate about tech, design, music production and digital entrepreneurship, the tools they need to build their future. In today’s digital world, a laptop isn’t just a gadget, it’s a lifeline.”

He praised Don Jazzy’s record of mentorship and philanthropy, writing, “You’ve always been one of the biggest believers in young people, from mentoring creatives and supporting startups to constantly showing love to your fans. With your influence and guidance, we can open doors for thousands of Nigerian youths to learn, create and earn from their talents.”

Responding on X, Don Jazzy expressed admiration for the idea but noted the magnitude of the goal, “Bro I hail o. Your initiative is commendable. But sir, 10,000 laptops is not beans. At this time I can only afford to support with N20 million and a repost. Hopefully, some other well-meaning Nigerians can help achieve the goal.”

His gesture quickly gained traction online, with thousands of users praising the move and urging others, including corporate bodies and philanthropists, to join the cause.

Although the N20 million donation marks an important first step, the organisers acknowledged that hundreds of millions more will be required to fully realise the project.

They also pledged transparency and accountability in distribution once funding targets are met.

The Tech Access Project, spearheaded by Ayotomiwa alongside collaborators Folowosele Adeboye, Bolade Adenike Esan and Oriyomi Soyoye, aims to bridge the digital gap and strengthen Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem by equipping young people with the tools to innovate and compete globally.

As the initiative gains momentum under hashtags such as #10kLaptopsProject and #DigitalNigeria, many social media users have described Don Jazzy’s response as a catalyst for collective action and an example of how influence can be used for social impact.
