Domestic Violence: Woman Stabs Husband to Death in Lagos

The growing incidence of matrimonial violence has claimed another victim with the alleged murder of a man by his wife in Lagos today.

NewsmakersNG learnt that the unidentified woman and the deceased were fighting at their home in Ikorodu, when she stabbed him to death.

The woman had reportedly told the police after her arrest that she mistakenly stabbed the victim during the fight.

Policemen were called to the couple’s home by neighbours who were alerted to the incident.

The woman reportedly claimed she only wanted to scare the victim with the knife but mistakenly stabbed him when he tried to seize it from her.

She further claimed that the deceased was in the habit of beating her and that their families and neighbours were aware of the abuse she had endured in his hand.

She also said she had been advised by several people to quit the marriage but chose to stay because of their two children.

She is being detained at the Igbogbo Police Station, in Ikorodu.
