Nigeria’s long-running celebrity custody battle involving media personality Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, popularly known as Do2dtun, and his ex-wife, Taiwo Oyebanjo, has taken a dramatic turn, following a fresh round of emotional accusations against the United States Embassy in Lagos, the then U.S. Consul General, Mary Beth Leonard, and alleged influence peddling by Taiwo’s elder brother, music star, D’banj.

In a series of highly charged posts on X, Do2dtun alleged that his children were secretly issued new U.S. passports and relocated abroad in defiance of a subsisting Nigerian court order, without his knowledge or consent, while he still held their original travel documents.

Sharing what he claimed was a final photograph taken with his children shortly before their departure, the distressed father wrote:

“This was the picture they took with my kids before they were abducted. Listen, my fight and unrelenting jabs at these cowards is cos they know what they did and it’s not going to end. Bring my kids to me. @USinNigeria… you are alleged connivers. No one deserves to live in a country through lies. I am an amazing father and I deserve equal right and fairness.”

Do2dtun directly named former U.S. Consul General, Mary Beth Leonard, who served in Nigeria at the time, questioning how fresh passports could have been issued to his children without his presence or approval, despite an ongoing divorce case before a Federal High Court.

“Mary Beth Leonard, you were the Consular General at the time my kids were kidnapped. How is it possible to have the passport of my kids with me, a court order on an ongoing case of divorce, a parent who is not an American citizen issued new passports without a consent from the father, without the father present? This is three years now. Is it possible that cos you are close to the perpetrators? I just need answers,” he wrote, tagging @USinNigeria, @NigeriaEmbassy and @POTUS.

In another post he added: “Is this the reason the American embassy was in on it? Mary Beth Leonard, I am calling you out. You were the U.S. Consular General at the time. Where are my kids??”

Do2dtun further questioned the legality of the process even if the children were U.S. citizens, insisting that their mother is not an American citizen and could not lawfully initiate such a process without the father’s consent.

“The level of decay in the system is alarming. Even if my kids are American citizens, is the mother an American citizen? How was she granted access without my consent?” he asked.

Beyond the diplomatic angle, the broadcaster’s allegations have reignited intense public debate around the alleged behind-the-scenes influence of D’banj, Taiwo Oyebanjo’s elder brother and one of Nigeria’s most powerful music exports.

While no direct evidence has been produced publicly, supporters of Do2dtun believe the international movement of the children could not have occurred without significant high-level connections and institutional backing.

For Do2dtun, however, the matter remains deeply personal and painfully human. His posts paint the portrait of a father who believes his children were taken from him through manipulation of power, privilege and international bureaucracies.

“I am an amazing father and I deserve equal right and fairness,” he repeated, as the anguish of three years without his children spilled across social media timelines once again.

Neither the U.S. Embassy in Nigeria, former Consul General Mary Beth Leonard, Taiwo Oyebanjo, nor D’banj has issued any public response to the latest wave of accusations as of the time of this report.
